This May with our celebrity patron, actor George Rainsford, we are launching a new campaign for Huntington’s disease awareness month called #HuntingtonsInMind. This year the campaign is about the mental health impact that a diagnosis of Huntington’s disease has on individuals and their families. We will be asking for more formalised and comprehensive mental health support to be made available.
We asked people from the Huntington’s community if they would like to share their stories, thank you to everyone who has contributed.
This is your story...
We reached out to the community to create three powerful films, each person and family have their own story to tell about how Huntington's has impacted their lives.
Please watch our first film which is Charlie's story.
You can watch David and his wife, Debbie tell their story below.
George Rainsford who featured in a storyline on the TV programme Casualty about Huntington’s disease will be speaking out about Huntington's disease awareness and mental health. George is a passionate supporter, he recently gave the campaign a mention on the ITV programme Loose Women and on BBC Morning Live.
There are lots of ways that you can get involved in our campaign. From sharing our posts and videos as they are launched to using our social banners or even changing your profile frame on Twitter. The more you spread the word, the more you can raise awareness around Huntington’s. We will constantly be updating our support resource page with mental health resources.
We have shared a number of resources that have been designed to help you. Please take a look around the resource section to see what there is. You can also call one of our Specialist Huntington Disease Advisors, they are available Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.
