Odds And Socks Day is a great opportunity to get others involved and raise awareness about Huntington's disease.
There are lots of ways to get involved in Odds And Socks Day. Have you thought about making a day of it? If you are, we can help you get inspired and support you with your event.
We can provide you with posters, banners, balloons, donation boxes, sock bunting, cake flags and 'colour in the sock' activities.
If you are interested in getting your workplace or class involved, we have a letter which you can email or print to explain what Odds And Socks Day is and how they can share this information with your colleagues or classmates to encourage others to join in!
In care homes and wards
Last year several care homes and wards got their residents and patients involved by hosting their own Odds And Socks Day event.
Ward five at Harplands Hospital, North Staffordshire participated in Odds And Socks Day. They asked the patients and staff to design a sock which they put up on the wall. They also baked lots of pink and green cakes for the staff, patients and their families to enjoy. Our Specialist Adviser, Lindsey Hughes and Glenys from the North Staffordshire branch joined on the day.
In the workplace
Get your colleagues involved! The Wixroyd group showed their support last year by all wearing their odd socks to work and getting lots of great photos which they shared on social media. We can provide you will decorations for your workplace and posters and donation boxes to help you raise awareness and money in your office or communal areas.
In schools
Huntington’s disease is tough on families – it can affect your mum and dad, brothers and sisters. Can you find your silliest odd socks to wear to school on Odds And Socks Day? Why not ask your teacher if you can get your whole class to join in. We have created a letter that you can use to explain what Odds And Socks Day is all about.
In the community
Odds And Socks Day is for everyone, everywhere – whether you're planning to spend the day at home with your feet up or have made plans with friends, you can still wear odd socks and help us to spread the word on social media and raise important funds.
