Roche has decided not to proceed with their trial, Gen HD2.

The news that Roche will be discontinuing their Gen HD 2 trial is disappointing for the community. We understand this is difficult news or the community and particularly those on this trial. Roche said:

Unfortunately although the treatment was well tolerated and safe, and whilst it did reduce mutant huntingtin, unfortunately no clinical benefit was seen in participants.

We want to thank everyone in the community who was involved in this study. Unfortunately, due to the nature of clinical trials, not every drug works in the way that researchers anticipate. But even failed trials are an important part of research as they help understand not only what works but what doesn't work. As disheartening as this news will be, especially for those on the trial, there are still so many drugs and treatments being investigated around the world.

What can our community do?

A valuable way to contribute to the global effort to find a treatment for Huntington's disease is to participate in Enroll-HD. This study will build a comprehensive and extremely valuable database of information that will be available for use by Huntington's researchers worldwide. Enroll-HD will also be used for identifying which volunteers may be suitable for forthcoming treatment trials.
