Today the Huntington's Disease Organisation is joining 11 other health charities to launch a joint petition urging the Health Secretary to reform NHS continuing healthcare (CHC) funding.
When someone in England has complex, life-limiting needs, NHS CHC should cover the full cost of their care, either at home or in a care home. But too many people with Huntington's disease miss out because the assessment process is combative, inconsistent, and traumatic for families.
We have a rare opportunity to change this. The UK Government has tasked an independent group called the Casey Commission with reviewing England’s social care system, including the NHS CHC funding process.
