Josh from Cornwall came up with the idea of completing ten challenges as one big fundraiser called HuntingTEN.
The support I’ve received from my friends and family and also through social media has been amazing. Receiving donations from people I’ve never met from different countries throughout the world has spurred me on for every challenge!
Josh is a Personal Trainer from Cornwall. Two of his cousins, Charly and Jono, both a similar age to Josh have Huntington’s disease. Jono was recently diagnosed, and Charly tested positive 15 years ago. Due to the high CAG repeat and the age at which Charly started to display symptoms, this is defined as Juvenile Huntington’s disease.
Their two families are very close and all actively fundraise for both the Huntington’s Disease Association to help fund support for those living with the disease, and the University of Plymouth to help fund Huntington’s research.
The Pie and Pasty 5k challenge was the first in a series of ten races, cycles and climbs for Josh’s HuntingTEN challenge. This challenge was extra special as their whole family took part including Charly who joined in her wheelchair but managed to start and finish the race on foot which is an amazing achievement. Charly loved the event and was very proud of Josh!
Charly and all of my amazing family took part in the 5k in Exmouth called ‘The Pie and Pasty Challenge’ (only in the West Country!). She did amazingly by starting and finishing the race on foot, earning herself a medal and a pasty after crossing the finish line.
What are the HuntingTEN challenges?
The ten challenges were not for the faint-hearted and Josh completed all of the challenges in around four months. Josh says that he will definitely will be repeating it with ten new challenges in the future!
- 5k race
- 10k race

We asked Josh what kept him going through all of his challenges:
Having family affected by Huntington’s disease has given me all the motivation needed to raise money to hopefully one day find a cure! All families affected also need all the support they can get. Any small amount I can raise will help them so much. I would tell anyone wanting to do some fundraising to GO FOR IT! Anything raised will help massively and the support you receive through the Huntington's Disease Association will help you through it!
