Qualitative study looking at how clinicians work with anticipatory grief in Huntington's disease

University of East Anglia

About the study:

While existing research on loss and grief in relation to Huntington’s disease has largely centred on patients and carers, this study addresses the relative lack of understanding around clinicians’ perspectives.

By conducting online interviews with clinicians, the study aims to explore whether professionals from across different patient-facing roles encounter presentations of loss and anticipatory grief in their work, and if so:

  • How this makes them feel
  • How they experience and manage these situations
  • What factors may support or hinder conversations about these sensitive topics with patients

Who can take part:

Clinicians willing to participate in this study must work with Huntington’s disease in a patient-facing role. However, this can cover any job role across the UK, undertaken for any period of time.

How to get involved:

Clinicians willing to participate in this study can get involved by contacting the researcher, Maja, via email at M.Gaborovic@UEA.AC.UK

Maja will then send over an information sheet and consent form to sign.

You will then arrange an interview time and date to take place via Microsoft Teams. Please note that the interview will be recorded and transcribed for analysis.
