The book, dedicated to a member of the Huntington's community, wins award and well-deserved recognition.

1 Shilling: The Football Programme Design Revolution of 1965-1985, started as an Instagram page before Matthew Caldwell and Alan Dein first published a DIY version of the book with the help of Kickstarter. The book was then picked up and reprinted in 2024 by Pitch Publishing, a major sporting publisher. It is the first-ever exploration of the golden era of football programme design.

The book is dedicated to and inspired by the story of John Elvin whose work tore up the formal code of layouts and traditional typefaces, and used photos in new and innovative ways. It includes classic programme covers and layouts from more than 40 clubs, an in-depth portrait of John Elvin himself, plus interviews with other designers of that era.

Alan Dein 1 Shilling co-creator, said:

Matt and I are still in dreamland and of course so thrilled that we've reached these heady heights with the book. In our acceptance speech, we thanked John Elvin for his inspiration to do the book and the Huntington's Disease Association for the work they do. John's life was cut short by Huntington's but his son Mark attended. Thank you [Huntington's Disease Association] for your support of the book. We are very proud to dedicate it to John Elvin.

The book raised over £5,000 for the Huntington's Disease Association when it was first launched. Matthew Calwell, 1 Shilling creator said:

I'm so thrilled that we could raise so much for you all and support all the incredible work you do every day to help people who are dealing with the disease. What you all do is amazing and I'm so honoured that we've been able to make this such a strong partnership!
