We would like to welcome any professionals working in mental health teams and related areas to join us for a study day on Huntington's disease and mental health.

A recent letter from NHS England to Integrated Care Boards around the country highlighted difficulties that some people with conditions like Huntington's disease have experienced in accessing mental health support.

Mental health services shouldn't exclude anyone because of a particular physical health or neurological diagnosis. Services should be offered based on need and the likelihood of them being helpful, rather than determined by these diagnoses.

On the study day we will look at questions such as:

  • What kind of mental health issues might someone with Huntington's disease experience?
  • How do questions of communication and cognition relate to supporting mental health in Huntington's disease?
  • What does good mental health support for people with Huntington's disease look like in both community and residential settings?
  • How do we offer psychological support for people with Huntington's disease?

Please join us as our speakers help us unravel these issues and point us in the direction of providing better understanding and support for people with Huntington's disease experiencing mental health problems.

This event takes place online.

The price for attending is £10 per person, and the funds go directly back to supporting those affected by Huntington's disease.
