We are excited to offer another ten places for families to utilise the updated LOHA program.

LOHA Health is an organisation supporting parents to help their children manage their mental health through human and digital resources. It is ORCHA approved and has benefited families around the UK in understanding how each other is feeling and creating effective communication strategies.

LOHA offer a variety of engaging activities, with most ranging from 5 - 20 minutes, that focus on helping families to communicate more effectively and gain a deeper understanding of how each other is feeling.

The activities focus on building on your family's strengths and creating a sense of solidarity, shared reality and reducing stigma by enabling open and honest conversations. Although Huntington's is not the focus of the activities, the conversations they help to facilitate will allow each member of the family to share how they're feeling, what they find difficult and what can help. This will give parents an insight to how their children are coping and help children to recognise how parents are feeling.

It is a flexible program which accounts for the unpredictability of life and Huntington’s. Families can choose the activities based on what they feel is most suited to them at the time and work through them at a pace and time that fits around their busy schedules.

Each week, there is the option for parents to join a video call with a psychologist who has working experience of Huntington's disease and can help parents to process what has come up throughout the previous week's activities.
