Treetops Hospice joined the Huntington’s Disease Association in hosting an Odds And Socks themed support group meeting.

The Huntington’s Disease support group hosted by Treetops Hospice is a peer support group that runs in partnership with the Huntington’s Disease Association. The group meets monthly and gets involved in hosting special themed events for Awareness Month, Odds And Socks Day, and Christmas.

Lindsey is the Specialist Adviser for the Derbyshire area and helps organise the support group. One of the attendees suggested that they had an Odds And Socks themed meeting. Lindsey mentioned this to the staff at Treetops and they thought it was a great idea.

Lindsey printed out the Huntington’s Disease Association downloadable Odds And Socks Day bunting to decorate the venue with. She also used the templates to arrange a colour in the sock competition so that there was an activity for attendees to get involved with.

We encouraged everyone to wear their odd socks, I organised a cake and a colouring competition, which Treetops judged. Treetops involved their communications person to promote it. One of the group members got her son's school involved as well, so it really does have a ripple effect.

Odds Ands Socks Day is an inclusive event open for anyone from the Huntington’s disease community to get involved in. Whether you are simply wearing your socks on Odds And Socks Day to raise awareness or hosting an event with your branch, support group or workplace. We are hoping for as many people as possible to come together and wear their odd socks with pride.

If you are interested in taking part in Odds And Socks Day as a branch, support group, care home or as an individual, you can find out more about how to get involved below.

I am looking forward to catching up with the group in 2026 and discussing what we can do to celebrate this years odds and socks day!

The group is a real collaboration; Treetops host the group in their beautiful wellbeing space, they provide volunteers to support group members and staff are on hand to support if needed. The group has gone from strength to strength, with a number of families who regularly attend. Over the years, we have enjoyed fun activities together and the group members have created a strong community who support one another.
