We wanted to provide an update on our fight for better care and support for people living with Huntington’s disease in Wales.
This year, we’ve already met with seven Members of the Senedd, as well as a Senior Advisor to another Member. These have included Rebecca Evans MS (Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning), Mark Isherwood MS (Chair of the Cross-Party Group on Hospice and Palliative Care), Andrew RT Davies MS (former Leader of the Opposition in the Welsh Parliament) and James Evans MS (then-Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care).
Following these meetings, Members have asked Written Questions to the Welsh Government on care coordination and mental health support for people living with Huntington’s disease and sent letters to the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Jeremy Miles MS.
With elections to the Welsh Parliament taking place on 7 May 2026, we’re already thinking about how we can raise awareness of Huntington’s disease with the new Senedd. We recently contacted all the major political parties in Wales, urging them to include commitments to improve Huntington’s disease care in their manifestos.
David Stephenson, Head of Policy and Public Affairs, said;
It’s been great to meet Members of the Senedd and make the case for improving care and support for people living with Huntington’s disease in Wales. We’d love you to join us in advocating for better support for people affected by Huntington’s by signing up to be a campaigner.
