We are excited to announce some of the interactive workshops that you can attend on day two of our family conference event.
With the AGM and family conference coming up in November, it's time to start thinking about what workshops you would like to attend ahead of the event. The workshops will take place twice. One from 10.30am - 11.15am and the second from 11.30am - 12.15pm. This will give you the opportunity to attend two workshops.
If you are attending the event with children and young people, they will be able to join our Youth Workers for different activities on site.
Relaxation techniques
A completely practical session focusing on relaxation techniques to aid sleep and manage stress and anxiety. You will have the option to lie on the floor or remain seated throughout if that is more comfortable for you, whilst being guided through a journey of relaxation.

Mindfulness – a practical toolbox
To provide you with takeaway ‘tools’ to help alleviate stressful situations in the moment. The workshop will include a guided visualisation taking you to your safe space, looking at stress triggers, body scanning and a throwing stress away activity.

Self-help reflexology techniques
Reflexology is a therapy that uses the feet and hands, to treat the whole body, the theories behind reflexology date back thousands of years. In this workshop we will explore the benefits of this holistic therapy, demonstrate some foot reflexology techniques to promote relaxation, and have opportunities to learn and practice some hand reflexology techniques.
Creating memories - a photo to cherish
Allowing people to join in with photo frame painting and crafting to create something to keep. Frames and craft items will be supplied but if you wish to bring your own photo(s) to put in on the day, you can
Psychological strategies - Living with Huntington’s disease
We teach a set of skills to help people live with Huntington's, many of which rely on developing mindful skills to attend to the thoughts and feelings we experience, and to separate ourselves from them so they don’t feel so overwhelming.
Dealing with difficult behaviours, emotions and thought patterns
Gain understanding of difficult emotions, behaviours and thoughts from a clinician, researcher and teacher with over 30 years of experience in Huntington's disease. Learn coping strategies and how to implement these into daily life. Please feel free to bring your own experiences to the workshop.
About our AGM and community conference
This year's conference will take place across two days with the AGM and community conference taking place on Saturday 01 November. If you are attending with children or young people (up to 17 years) they will have the option to join off-site activities with our youth engagement team. Sunday 02 November we will be hosting a range of interactive workshops. There is the option to join for one or both days and also the option for an overnight stay which will include a dinner and disco and your chance to meet others from the community.
