Garnering support from MPs across England and Wales.

In November 2025, we organised a Parliamentary event to raise awareness of Huntington's disease. We invited MPs from up and down the country in order to inform them about Huntington's disease and the needs of our community. A total of 27 MPs attended in person with a further nine sending a member of staff on their behalf. We were delighted by the turnout and the real interest that so many MPs showed in Huntington's disease.

22 MPs signed our pledge cards with their promise to support the Huntington's community and support the Huntington's Disease Association with our campaigning.

Community involvement

The event was such a success because of the hard work our Policy and Public Affairs team put into organising it and lobbying MPs. They invited every MP from every constituency in England and Wales, sending each one specific information for their area.

It could also not have been done without the help of our community. Thank you to everyone who wrote to their MP and for those who attended to represent the charity. Our aim is to have Huntington's Disease Champions in as many constituencies as possible. If you can't see an MP from your area and you are happy to contact them, please email darren.rutland@hda.org.uk for information about how MPs can become Huntington's Disease Champions.

A special thank you

We would like to thank all the other MPs who took the time out of their day to come and join us at this event or who had a member of staff representing them on their behalf.

The work of our Huntington's Disease Champions

Martin Vickers MP mentioned our Parliamentary Reception in the House of Commons. He highlighted the need to ensure implementation of NICE guidelines which recommends a single point of contact for people with Huntington's disease. Thank you for your support Martin.
