Online session on physiotherapy for Huntington's disease, featuring research, clinical insights, and shared practice


The Huntington's Disease Association is pleased to host an online Physiotherapy Learning and Sharing Session focused on physiotherapy for Huntington’s disease, delivered on behalf of UK members of the European Huntington's Disease Network Physiotherapy Working Group.

We invite physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants working across the UK to join this session for learning, discussion, and shared practice.

The session will include presentations from clinicians and researchers working in Huntington’s disease care:

  • Current evidence and future directions in physiotherapy for Huntington’s disease
    Speaker: Dr Una Jones – Honorary Lecturer, Cardiff University.
  • Physiotherapy challenges in Huntington’s disease: a personal perspective and practical solutions
    Speaker: Dr Richie Paul Carreon – Specialist Research Physiotherapist in Huntington’s Disease at The Walton Centre, Liverpool.
  • An overview of physiotherapy for people with Huntington’s disease within a specialist service
    Speaker: Zafer Ikizgul – Specialist Physiotherapist, Mill Lodge Huntington’s Disease Service.
  • The European Huntington’s Disease Network Physiotherapy Working Group: who we are and what we do
    Speaker: Camilla Ekwall – Working Group Co-Lead and Lecturer / Neurological Physiotherapist in Sweden.

The session will conclude with an interactive panel discussion and shared learning session.

We will also introduce a UK physiotherapy email group, designed to support ongoing networking, collaboration, and shared learning beyond the event.
