Professor Hugh Rickards MD FRCPsych

Professor Hugh Rickards is a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist specialising in Huntington’s disease and Honorary Professor of Neuropsychiatry at the University of Birmingham. Professor Rickards is a leading authority on the mental health impact of Huntington’s disease and an advocate for improving care for patients and families across primary and specialist services.

Expertise and experience:

• Over 30 years’ experience working with people affected by Huntington’s disease

• Currently provides clinical care for approximately 350 patients with Huntington’s disease

• Specialist interest in the psychiatric and cognitive aspects of Huntington’s disease

• Chair of the Huntington’s Disease Association Board of Trustees

• Regular speaker and educator on Huntington’s disease and mental health for healthcare professionals
