Step into spring with #HDWalk, our brand-new community fundraiser for Awareness Month

What is #HDWalk?

Built around the idea that every step tells a story, #HDWalk replaces #HDHike and invites you to move in a way that feels both personal and meaningful.

For example, you could choose to walk to honour someone you love or walk to mark a milestone in your own Huntington’s journey.

Here are just a few ways you could take part:

  • 50km for 50% – Each child of a parent with Huntington’s disease has a 50% chance of inheriting the gene. Recognise this by challenging yourself to walk 50km this May
  • 18 miles for 18 years – Predictive genetic testing is available in the UK from age 18. Recognise this by challenging yourself and 18 of your nearest and dearest to walk for the Huntington’s Disease Association
  • 12,000 steps for 12 years – Getting a diagnosis of Huntington’s disease can take many years. It may be that it took a family member or a friend 12 years to get their diagnosis. Recognise this and challenge yourself to walk 12,000 steps a day for the 31 days of May

Why should I take part?

#HDWalk is inclusive, flexible, and open to everyone. By joining in, you will:

  • Move your body in a way that works for you
  • Connect with others across the Huntington’s community
  • Raise vital funds to support people living with Huntington’s disease
  • Help shine a light on Huntington’s disease during Awareness Month

We encourage those taking part to raise at least £50 as part of our wider community target of £5000. Why £50? Why £5000?– This is to symbolise the 50:50 chance of inheriting the disease.

As an extra incentive, when you raise £50, you’ll receive a free pack of Huntington’s Disease Association shoelaces.
