The Huntington’s Disease Association exists to help everyone affected by Huntington’s disease live life to their full potential.
As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly common, we recognise its potential to support our work in improving efficiency, strengthening communications, enhancing accessibility, and freeing up time so we can focus on delivering support for the community.
Our approach to AI is guided by our mission and values. We apply tenacity, compassion, and professional judgment when assessing and using new tools, particularly given the sensitive and complex nature of Huntington’s disease. We are inclusive and mindful of the risks of bias or exclusion in emerging technologies, and we aim to inspire by adapting responsibly while maintaining the trust of our community.
AI will always be a tool to support our work; it will never replace human judgment, especially in decisions affecting individuals, safeguarding, or specialist advice. Any AI-generated content will be reviewed by the relevant staff before use, and we will remain fully compliant with UK GDPR and all other relevant legislation.
We will never use AI tools to process personal, health, or genetic information about the people we support, recognising the particular sensitivity of this data for the Huntington’s disease community.
We will not use AI-generated photography or imagery in our communications. The real experiences of people and families living with Huntington’s disease are at the heart of who we are, and we are committed to representing our community through authentic photography that reflects their true stories and voices.
We will use AI only when it clearly advances our charitable purpose and benefits the community we serve. Our priority will always be the Huntington’s disease community.
