Care & nursing homes
The HDA produce a factsheet ‘Choosing a Care Home’ available from our factsheets page.
Your local Specialist HD Adviser will be able to tell you if there are any nursing or residential homes which are in your area which have experience of working with people with HD.
Here at Exemplar we care for younger adults with complex care needs, both mental and physical, and have done so since 2001. All our staff are there to support our service users to achieve their own individual goals and aspirations. Our vision of ‘enhancing lives’ is embedded in everything we do and we will go the extra mile to help all our service users and staff to reach their full potential irrespective of health or ability. We work closely with the HDA and a number of our services hold regular clinics with Specialist Consultants and advisers from the HDA and the NHS.
The Care Funding Specialists
Farley Dwek Solicitors are a specialist provider of legal services in relation to issues arising around care home and nursing home funding in the UK.
If you, or a relative, or a friend, are already in care or about to go into care, you should have your eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding assessed first. This includes where you are paying for care in the home.
If you have ‘primary health needs’ the NHS should pay for 100% of your care home fees.
