Promoting physical activity

Identification of challenges and development of strategies to promote physical activity for people with Huntington’s disease

About the project

This project aims to explore the challenges in promoting physical activity at Huntington’s disease specific clinics and to develop ways in which promotion of physical activity could be promoted at these clinics.

The study has been funded by the Huntington’s Disease Association and is being organised by Dr Una Jones at Cardiff University.

Can you help?

The researchers are looking for people with Huntington’s and their carers and healthcare professionals to attend an event in Birmingham on 14 April 2018 with the aim of producing a resource pack for Huntington’s specific clinics to promote physical activity.

Are you:

  • living with Huntington’s disease?
  • caring for someone with Huntington’s disease?
  • someone who has been a caregiver in the past?
  • able to get to Birmingham and back home in one day?

What does taking part involve?

The event in Birmingham will last 4 hours. Travel expenses to get to there will be paid for and refreshments will be available. During the event you will chat with healthcare professionals who work with people with Huntington’s e.g. nurses, doctors and physiotherapists, to discuss how physical activity could be promoted at Huntington’s disease clinics.

How can I take part?

If you are interested in taking part and would like more information, please contact Una Jones at jonesuf@cardiff.ac.uk or on 02920 687789.
