Southend Branch of HDA win coveted award presented by Alan Titchmarsh

Southend HD Branch (allotmenteers) went to Syon House yesterday (home of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland) to collect their trophy and prizes for winning the ‘Gardening Against the Odds’ competition for 2012 (a National Competition organised by the Conservation Society and the Sunday Telegraph). We came first in front of some very worthy contenders, well done to everyone. Accompanying our allotmenteers were Jon Limbert (Southend Council Landscape Officer), who has been so supportive to us, both starting up and ongoing, Ray How, who again has helped us enormously and runs the Sherbourne Gardens allotments site, and Colin Todd who is an allotment holder nearby and has befriended our branch and gives us so much help and advice on site.
