Harry needs a hug: A story for children learning to deal with Huntington’s Disease
Campaign For My Brain have released a brand new book that helps children understand how to deal with Huntington’s disease in an easy to understand and sensitive way.
Campaign For My Brain was founded by Emma Terranova in 2018 to raise awareness of Huntington’s disease and other neurological disorders. Emma’s family are affected by Huntington’s disease, with her mother and grandmother both inheriting the disease. Campaign For My Brain said,
“We recognise the stigma, isolation, discrimination, and exclusion that sufferers and carers can continually feel. We also know the battle is constant, the battle for getting the care that is rightly due and needed. Along with educating and raising awareness, Campaign For My Brain will be running future projects aimed at making a change to the systems that define what care is needed.”
That is why they’ve created this extremely helpful and informative book for children to help them understand what living in a family affected by Huntington’s disease means. The blurb of the book reads,
‘Harry is a little boy, who has a best friend called Betty. One day, the doctors tell his Daddy that he has something called ‘Huntington’s disease’ (HD). Harry talks to his best friend Betty, who helps him to understand HD and supports him through his worries.’
