Computerised Cognitive Assessment in Huntington’s Disease

What are the aims of this study?
We would like to see whether computer-based tests of thinking and memory give us more accurate information, and are easier for patients to complete, than paper-based tests. We are particularly interested in neurodegenerative conditions such as Huntington’s disease, and are looking for patients with the condition, as well as those without a neurodegenerative disorder to take part.
What does the study involve?
Taking part in a 1hour 30 minute (approx.) session (at your home or a clinic)
During that session, completing a number of tasks, some in the form of paper and pencil and others that are computer-based
What will be the benefit of taking part?
Huntington’s disease can affect people’s thinking i.e. their memory and concentration. We are trying to develop new computerised assessments for use with people with HD. We hope these might be used by clinicians in the NHS but also available for research purposes. Taking part in this study will help the team to be able to develop and investigate whether these new measures are helpful.
Will taking part interfere with my treatment?
No, your medication and care will not be affected by you deciding for or against taking part in this study. Please note that we are looking for participants within the Plymouth and South West area only.
Who runs the study?
This study is run by a Neuropsychological research group who are employed by Plymouth University and the NHS.
