CHIDI Foundation conference keynote speakers share their stories
This year's CHDI Huntington's Disease Therapeutics Conference saw the release of a new documentary film, 'Hoping Machine'. This heart-warming and moving one-hour film features families and familiar faces from the Huntington's community, such as Charles Sabine, Sarah Winkless and Sylvie Lewis, as they express how Huntington's has affected their lives and discuss how Huntington's disease drug development has progressed.
At the conference, instead of the usual family member keynote, Charles Sabine reached out to the previous keynoters to see how they were doing. From this, 'Hoping Machine' was born. Catching up with all of the speakers via Zoom during COVID-19 lockdown at the start of 2021 brought a surprise - their keynote speeches had not only motivated and deeply touched the intended audience, but had profoundly affected the speakers themselves too, offering lessons for the wider global Huntington's community as together we negotiate our rocky and widening paths to therapies. You can watch the film below.
The CHDI Huntington's Disease Therapeutics Conference is a unique experience that focuses on drug discovery and development for Huntington’s disease and draws participants and speakers from the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors as well as academia and research institutions. The conference is intended as a forum where all participants can share ideas, learn about new disciplines, network with colleagues and build new collaborative partnerships.
