Carole Carruthers, Chair of Huntington's Disease Association steps down

After 14 ½ years of loyal service on the Executive Council for the Huntington’s Disease Association Carole Carruthers has decided to step down as Chair. Carole has steered the Association through some very difficult times and has provided strong but sensitive leadership and direction. I know you will all join me in thanking Carole for her dedication and commitment. Election for the new Chair is under way - and results will be announced in June.
Cath Stanley, Chief Executive
Message from the Chair
I have been a member of the Executive Council for fourteen years, and Chair for five and a half years. When I was asked to take on the Chairmanship I was a little apprehensive, having had no previous experience, but I have enjoyed the role and am proud to be part of a team, which has helped to move the Association forward. I wish to thank all the Executive Council members both past and present, with whom I have served during the last fourteen years. Without their hard work the Association would not be in the position it is in today. A massive “Thank you” is due to all our staff for the marvelous job they do for the Association. Their contribution to the HD community is enormous. The personal help and support I have received from Cath Stanley and her team has been much appreciated. I would like to thank the Trusts, Foundations, Companies, Councils and PCT’s for their considerable contribution towards funding our Association. Last, but not least, our Branches, Support Groups and individuals who work so very hard to raise the funds to make possible the services the Association provides. It has been an honour and a privilege to have been part of the HD family for twenty years and during that time I have met many inspirational people and made many friends. I wish the Association every success in the future and I will read the future newsletters with much interest.
