2.6 challenge – Huntington’s Disease Association staff edition
Over the weekend many people in the Huntington’s community took on the 2.6 challenge to raise much-needed funds for the Huntington’s Disease Association and that includes our staff!
The 2.6 challenge consists of completing an activity based on the numbers 2.6 or 26. You could run 2.6 miles, finish a Rubik’s Cube in 26 moves, learn how to count up to 26 in different languages - the possibilities are endless and anything goes! Below is a roundup of Huntington’s Disease Association staff's wild and wonderful 2.6 challenges.
1 – Cath Stanley – Chief Executive
Cath walked 26 miles in the week leading up to the challenge with her furry friend, Alice! Cath’s grand total raised was £462.
2 – Joe Dobbie – Fundraising Manager
Joe decided to learn the numbers 1 - 26 in ten different languages. She was then tested by selecting a different language at random for each number! Joe’s grand total raised was £321.
“I'm proud to be raising money for the fantastic charity I work for. Please give what you can and watch me try to recall 13 in Welsh.”
3- James O’Connor – Huntington’s Disease Youth Worker
James set himself the extremely hard challenge of finishing a Rubik’s Cube in 26 moves! Hours later James finished successfully! James’ grand total raised was £230.
“Had this Rubik's cube been mine, and not my daughter's, I'm fairly sure it would have been found in small bits scattered across the living room!”
4 – Paul Sumpter - Trust and Foundation Fundraiser
Paul challenged himself to 2 minutes 6 seconds of keepie-ups and then challenged others to do the same! Paul’s grand total raised was £270.
5 – Anita Daly – Specialist Huntington’s Adviser
The Daly household took on singing 26 Beatles songs, with Anita’s son, Sean, playing the guitar throughout!
“We will be donating some money to the Huntington’s Disease Association. Well done to everyone!”
6 – John Gregor – Specialist Huntington’s Adviser
The Gregor family danced through all 26 letters of the alphabet in a lockdown disco marathon from Abba to The Zutons. You can see their awesome floor-filling alphabetical DJ set here! The Gregor’s grand total raised was £560!
7 - Ruth Abuzaid - Head of Service Development
The Abuzaid family took on an afternoon of skipping, passing, push-uping and star jumping 26 times! The Abuzaid’s grand total raised was £75.
We want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who got involved in the 2.6 challenge and raised funds for the Huntington’s Disease Association. COVID-19 has affected the way our charity works, impacting our fundraising and threatening our ability to care for those affected by Huntington’s disease.
