Training for professionals: What the Huntington’s Disease Association offer
At the Huntington’s Disease Association, we put just as much weight behind training professionals as providing care and support for people affected by Huntington’s disease. Study Group and online training program
CME4HD is a free American online training program that covers everything to do with Huntington’s disease. It is available 24/7 and is a very valuable tool. However, if undertaken by a professional in the UK there are a few points to note, these are:
- CME is the Continuing Medical Education. As an American course, people undertaking the course in the UK are not set up to gain CPD points on completion.
- All information given on prevalence, laws (i.e. the genetic discrimination act), funding (i.e. for testing and for PIGD), approved medications, capacity assessments and resources etc will be US based and not representative of the situation in the UK.
If you feel that the professionals who are caring for a loved one affected by Huntington’s disease could benefit from our training, please do not hesitate to tell them about our services. If you are a professional who would like to learn as much as you can about Huntington’s please get in touch on 0151 331 5444 or email [email protected]
