8 ways you can give back this #GivingTuesday
It is officially #GivingTuesday, a day dedicated to generosity and donating. Below is a bit of information about the day and ways you can get involved to support people affected by Huntington’s disease.
What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is a global giving movement aimed to encourage people to help others through the gift of donations, time or their voices. It is described as ‘hashtag activism’ and aims to bring people together through the power of social media and collaboration to celebrate the joy of giving and giving back.
How can you give back this #GivingTuesday?
1 - Donate by text!
Simply text TeamHDA to 70450 to donate!

Texts cost your donation amount plus one standard rate message and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone and SMS. If you’d like to donate but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text TeamHDANoInfo to 70450.
2 - Donate to our COVID-19 Appeal
We all know the dramatic effect COVID-19 has had on our way of life. Over the course of the year, it has significantly impacted our fundraising efforts and ability to help and care for those affected by Huntington’s disease. You can help by donating to our COVID-19 appeal here.
3 - Use Amazon Smile
You Shop. Amazon Gives.
If you shop at Amazon then you can use Amazon Smile! Switching over to Smile.Amazon to make your purchases means that Amazon will donate 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT, returns and shipping fees) of eligible purchases to the charitable organisation of your choice.
Follow the instructions below to use Amazon Smile.
- Visit smile.amazon.co.uk and log in using your normal Amazon details.
- On your first visit to smile.amazon.co.uk, you need to select ‘Huntington’s Disease Association’ to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. Smile.Amazon. will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make at Smile.Amazon will result in a donation to us.
- Make sure that when you visit Amazon in future you are using the Smile.Amazon page to place your order – you can do this by bookmarking your page
4 – Set up a Facebook fundraiser
Facebook now offers all users the option of setting up a fundraiser to help raise funds for their chosen charity. A lot of supporters are using this way of giving in celebration of their birthdays. You can easily do this by following the steps below.
- To add a donate button to your post, click to create a post select Support non-profit.
- Or you can click 'Feeling/Activity' and scroll down to click 'Supporting'.
- Start typing in ‘Huntington’s Disease Association’ and click 'Add Button' to confirm you want to add the donate button to your post.
5 – Use Give As You Live
Similar to Amazon Smile, when you make a purchase using Give as you Live, they will donate a percentage of what you spend online will go towards our work. Take a look at their site here and see if there’s anything you’d like to purchase, a last-minute Christmas present maybe?
6 - Make a one-off donation
Are you still working from home? Switching pub trips for virtual nights in? Or letting your locks grow during lockdown? Donate the cost of your commute, missed round or haircut and help us carry on supporting anyone affected by Huntington’s disease today.
7 - Become a monthly donor
Start a regular gift to support our work helping people living with Huntington’s disease to live a better life. If you have any monthly subscriptions that you barely use, why not cancel it and donate the amount to us instead?
8 - Shop at our online store
Find the perfect gift from our store: we have a range of Christmas cards, face coverings, t-shirts, pin badges and so much more.
