Raising money for your favourite charity (the Huntington’s Disease Association) might feel like an extracurricular task that must happen outside of school hours. Well, I’ll let you in on a secret … you can also raise money for the Huntington’s Disease Association whilst at school! If you let your teachers know exactly why you’re wanting to fundraise, they are most likely to say yes! And maybe even lend a helping hand. Below you can find 5 ways to raise money for charity at school.
1 – Bake sale. Yum!

If you have a passion for all things cake then this one is for you! See if you can hold a bake sale at school with you, your friends and all the parents making cakes, biscuits, cookies, tarts and more! You can charge for each item sold with all the proceeds going to the Huntington’s Disease Association. If you’re feeling really competitive, why not include a best cake competition and ask some of your teachers to judge?
If you arrange your bake sale for the 5 September 2019 you can partake in Cake That, HD!, a day specifically for Huntington’s Disease Association cake sale fundraisers.
2 – School performance
If you’re feeling creative why not hold a school performance. You could showcase your classmate's talents or put on a play! This will take a bit of hard work and you will need help and permission from your teachers and parents. But imagine how much money you could raise charging all your friends and family for tickets to your superstar show!
3 – Own clothes day
If you think you can persuade your teachers to allow you one whole day in your own clothes then this fundraiser is the right one for you! Charge every student in the school a small amount to wear their own clothes to school for a day and see how much you can raise. This is a super fun way to fundraise and all your friends will think you’re AWESOME if you can pull this one off!
4 – Host a raffle

Raffles are very fun and easy to organise, they can even be added to the end of another event. All you need is a raffle ticket booklet and some prizes. The prizes can be donated by parents and teachers then all you have to do is sell tickets. Simple!
5 – Sponsored challenges

Now, this is a big one! You can get sponsored for many different things but you have to be ready to work hard. Maybe a run, cycle or swim is up your street? Or maybe you’re more of a daredevil and want to do a mountain walk, kayak or rock climb? Whatever your activity, you can ask almost everyone in your life to sponsor you, including all your school friends and teachers!
Once you have decided to set up one (or more!) of the amazing fundraising activities listed above and have asked permission from your guardian and teachers, go to our register your event page to get started! You can also contact our fundraising team on [email protected] if you have any questions and for further support!
If you are affected by Huntington’s disease and would like support or advice please contact us on 0151 331 5444 or email [email protected]. You can also get in touch with our youth engagement service, HDYES, for additional support and education on Huntington’s disease.
