HDA research grant information
February 2008
The HDA has strong links with the UK HD Network and the European HD Network. The HDA is interested in funding both basic and applied/clinical research. Funding rounds are opened as and when sufficient funds are available: consequently, funding rounds are not available every year.
Our 2008 funding round is now open and the Huntington's Disease Association invites applications for the support of research aimed at furthering the understanding of Huntington's disease, improving its treatment or otherwise improving the quality of life for patients and their carers.
The following grants may be applied for:
-
HDA Reseach Project Grants - Up to £140k spread over 3 years for direct support of research with priority given to small pump-priming grants likely to lead to support from a major funding body.
-
HDA Studentship - Potential supervisors may apply for up to 3 years for fees, maintenance grant, and research expenses for a postgraduate studentship at a UK academic Institution with costs to a maximum of £90-100k spread over 3 years
The principal applicants should be based at an English or Welsh institution to which the grant will be paid. Peer review is an important part of the process. Applicants are specifically asked to name 2 independent reviewers from the UK and 2 reviewers from outside the UK.
The same form will be used for both types of application.
An electronic and 2 paper copies of the completed application should be sent by 14th April 2008 to; the Huntington’s Disease Association, Down Stream Building, 1 London Bridge, London SE1 3BG. We will accept an electronic version by the 14th April with the paper copies following in the post.
