Huntington's Disease Awareness Week - 8th-14th June, 2009
June 2009
The Huntington's Disease Association is holding their Awareness Week from Monday 8th June to Sunday 14th June 2009. To mark this occasion we are holding several events across England and Wales to raise awareness of the disease:
- Monday 8th June - Family Day in London
- Tuesday 9th June - Palliative Care Day in London
- Wednesday 10th June - Carers Day in North Wales
- Friday 12th to Sunday 14th June - Juvenile Huntington's Family Weekend
Jim Pollard, HD Service Director at Tewkesbury Hospital in the USA, will have flown in to the UK for the Huntington's Disease Association of England and Wales to speak at the above events during Awareness Week.
Many of our local branches and support groups across England and Wales are holding their own awareness raising events, from coffee mornings to information stands at local supermarkets and radio interviews to a cruise on a steam yacht in the Lake District!
To find out what is going on in your area, please contact our Head Office on 0151 298 3298 or email info@hda.org.uk for details of your local branch or support group.
Also, the four Huntington's disease charities throughout the UK and Ireland have come together for the first time to form a unique Alliance for Huntington's Disease Awareness Week, 8th-14th June 2009.
The aim of the collaboration is to make as many people as possible aware of this rare disease and its devastating effect on whole families. The new partnership will be called 'The UK and Ireland Huntington's Alliance' and we will be launching this at a press conference with our new Patrons on Tuesday 9th June in London.
