JHD: Events
JHD Family Weekend 2009
Our fifth JHD Family Weekend was held at the Calvert Trust in the Lake District again from the 12th-14th June 2009, and was as successful as previous years. The Calvert Trust has some great activities, including horse-riding, canoeing, archery, swimming and rock climbing, so there is something for everyone and for every type of weather!
This year we had wonderful weather, although we never guarantee it! We welcomed Rachel Taylor and Jim Pollard from the US, who both spoke to the parents who came to the weekend. On the Saturday evening we had a barbeque, as is traditional by now at the weekend, and followed that with a Hawaiian themed party!

Next year the weekend will be from the 4th-6th June 2010, and will be held at the Calvert Trust again.
The purpose of the weekend is to give young people with HD and their families an opportunity to meet other people in a similar situation, whilst also having a great weekend full of exciting activities! The weekend is also an opportunity for families to find out more about JHD, both from other parents and professionals.
To find out more about the weekend and to book your place, please contact Helen Santini on 01279 507656. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the weekend, and please book early to avoid disappointment.

JHD Study Days
We held a practical study day on Juvenile Huntington's Disease on the 16th January 2008 in central London. This study day is aimed at health and social care professionals who may be supporting a child, or children, with JHD and their families. It provided an opportunity to learn about JHD, meet with other health and social care professionals also supporting a child with JHD and their families, and to attend practical workshops on managing various aspects of JHD that were of interest or relevance to specific areas of work.
If you missed this event and would be interested in other professional study days, please visit our Events Calendar to find out about other events in your area.
